Iced in

Well, today we are like much of Oklahoma in that we are ice bound. However, we are lucky because we still (obviously) have power. This morning started out a bit rough because we now have water damage to the ceilings in about three rooms (one even flooded the bathroom a bit but better there and on tile than on carpet!) so that woke us up well and early! Then the phone started ringing. Folks in the family were off work because of the ice (except for Scott and dad!). Before too long, the power started going out at relatives' houses. Courtni and Nate came over with Hailee around 10:30. . . Mom was already here, having stopped by a bit early to see her new grandbaby. Dad is expected sometime around 2 p.m. and Scott whenever he can get off work and down here. Mom ran home once to store up some water in large jugs and buckets just in case and while she was there, found that a neighbor's tree had fallen and done some damage to one of their vehicles. Then her power went out so she's headed back over here.

I have to say, it's a bit of a strange answer to prayer because today was to be the first day I was home by myself on maternity leave and though I think we'd have been just fine, I like having the company. I made a big pot of chili and got things ready for everyone to have lunch over here. This was after cooking this morning and getting 8 mini-loaves of pumpkin bread done and starting on Paula Deen's fudge. :) Here's my favorite pic from the morning:

Yes, I was cooking, watching Moonlight, and playing with my daughter. :) I'm multi-talented.
