Things I will always remember about the weekend my daughter was born

1. that I watched more football over this weekend than I have in the past SEVERAL months combined.

2. that I woke up at 3 a.m. on Sunday, couldn't sleep and stayed up until nearly midnight because I, of course, just had to fix my hair since I probably wouldn't have a chance the next day.

3. that I made my mother go buy me some waterproof mascara because I'd be danged if I gave up on wearing mascara to the c-section but I also knew that I'd cry and didn't want to look like a raccoon afterwards. . . I mean, you only get first pics with the kiddo once right?

4. I will never forget that I am having my first child tomorrow and outside my window right now . . . it is snowing. It's beautiful.

I would give anything to be there. I would gently and quietly sing lullabys to all of you.

"Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine.

Little one when you play
Don't you mind what you say
Leet those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine.

If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The chance to hold you.

From your head to your toes
Your not much, goodness knows
But your so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine."
