Okay, I will admit, I'm not a movie star, not in perfect shape (I'm far from it in fact), and I'm seven months pregnant but comments like the following just make me want to gag:
For expectant mom Halle Berry, her current condition is all good – even the wardrobe.
"There's no bad," the Oscar winner, 41, said Sunday at a press gathering for her new movie, Things We Lost in the Fire, which opens Oct. 19.
"There is nothing bad about it. The morning sickness and the vomiting and the hot sweats. Nothing's been bad about it. I've loved every second of it," she said.
Are you kidding me??? You've loved the morning sickness, the hot sweats, the lack of sleep, the pain in your pelvis, back, side, neck, head, toes, hair, teeth, etc? You've LOVED it?
Since when is it not okay to say "pregnancy is not the greatest feeling in the world"? I am already head over heels in love with my daughter and wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. The thought of not having her around makes me ill and I'm not sure I'm going to be okay with not feeling her inside me once she's born. BUT. . . I'm not LOVING pregnancy! And I think it's okay to be honest and say that. Since when is vomiting a "gee, I love this" kind of event? It is OKAY to say "you know, I am blessed and grateful for the end product but being pregnant is not fun." I know my sister and my cousin agree with me. Neither of them went through their pregnancies and came out thinking "what a wonderful, refreshing, enjoyable experience."
On the flip side of that, I often find myself thinking that there are several people in my life who I can't share these kinds of thoughts with. Either because of their own life experiences or because they know how long we tried to get pregnant, it is nigh upon taboo to speak ill of the pregnancy experience in front of these individuals. So I save it up and share the grunts and groans with those who are willing to listen (sorry there are so many of you who are willing because I know I've not been shy about spewing to you).
However, let me just say that now and forever more, if you need to complain about any of the not so lovable aspects of pregnancy, you can chat me up all you need!
