A crafty night

One of the perks of being a state employee (and thank God there are some because the pay is not what keeps us motivated!) is that we are off on state and federal holidays. The next two weeks, I will only work a total of 6 days. :) And with maternity leave coming up soon, I really only have 11 working days left before I'm out of there to go have Emmy.

But I digress. . . since I don't have to work tomorrow, I've spent my afternoon and evening working on some projects. I wanted to get the first page of Emily's scrapbook done and voila! I did!

It was an ordeal though, let me tell you. I went to Walgreen's to scan the photo of Scott and I holding my belly (and let me tell you that pregnancy is the ONLY time we'd ever have a photo of that!) for the first page of the book. Well first I had to swear up and down, dance on a stack of Walgreens' employee manuals and do the "cross my heart and hope to die" jig, attesting to the fact that the picture was not copyrighted. I mean, I flipped it over and, ta-da. . . no copyright but that wasn't good enough for the 12 year old working at the photo counter. While I was there, I thought I'd pick up some pictures I'd sent from Snapfish to be printed. I could have sworn all over again that I did, indeed, send them to the Walgreens on the corner of 12th and Eastern. But apparently I didn't. So the 12 year old called and told me they were at the Walgreen's on Santa Fe in Moore. Sweet! I stopped by my parents' house to put all of Emily's scanned ultrasound photos on a disk since I just happened to have bought some while I was waiting for the non-copyrighted photo to be printed. Disc in hand, I headed to the Walgreens on Santa Fe. Did you know there are TWO Walgreens on Santa Fe in Moore? Well, I didn't either. I went to the wrong one first. However, I didn't know it was the wrong one until I was midway through the process of printing out wallet sized copies of the ultrasound pictures (also for the scrap page. So I paid for those and went to my THIRD Walgreens of the day. I was seriously spreading the love around. I show up at the third Walgreens (at 12th and Santa Fe, not 19th and Santa Fe) and my pant leg caught on the trunk release, popping open the trunk. No problem . . . I go back to close it and wouldn't you know it, the trunk won't latch. So I saunter inside to buy rope (yes, you can't buy string, but you CAN buy enough rope to wrap around a house) for the trunk and the photos I'd started out looking for about an hour and a half earlier. Phew! Myself, the photos (from three different stores), and my wobbly trunk (apparently I can't tie a knot well. . . better let Scott teach Emmy how to do that) made it home safely approximately 2 hours after we'd left. I told Scott about the trunk and he started making that face that says "I know, I know, you didn't MEAN to break the car but now I have to figure out how to fix it so I am still not happy." That's when Emmy and I came inside to have craft night. lol.

Here is what we made: First, the scrapbook page that is truly at fault for all of the trouble. But it turned out so cute! Don't you think?

THEN we finished up bookends for her room. Because I don't know if you've ever tried to find bookends that are cute enough for a baby room, but they are elusive little suckers. Here's what we came up with:

What do you think?? :) (if you like it, yes, I will put your comment up. . . if you are tacky, I'll just ignore you. HA!)

A slideshow of Emily's room . . .

I couldn't get the pictures to send to most of my friends since the pictures showed up so large. So we thought outside the box and voila! Everyone can see her room! :)

Okay, you know you love those letters! To order your own (personalized to say whatever you want, in whatever colors/themes you want), visit April Hamilton at www.swankypankydesigns.com. Seriously, what are you waiting for?

Finally coming together

Okay, lots of work last night and lots of work today but Emily's room is really starting to look like a little girl's room! I have pictures to share as soon as I find the stinkin' cord for the camera. My sis' sister in law made letters that spell out Emily and they are ADORABLE. After seeing the pictures, you're gonna want some so I'll also post her website address.

Oh, and just an FYI, already lost a pair of her socks behind the dresser and no, there's no way I can get behind it or low enough to look under it and retrieve them. Okay, so I could get low enough to look under it but Scott's not home so who would help me get UP from there? lol

Emily's spending spree

LOL! Our credit union called and left a message on Scott's phone this weekend so he finally got back in touch with them today. They were concerned that several charges made on Sunday may not be his. :) He asked them what charges those were and they were all the purchases we made for Emily's room! :) Her chandelier, her furniture, her bottle labels, etc. I just thought it was funny that they were alarmed at all the online purchases. Now are they ever that quick in responding when our account has been phished? NO! :P

We find out soon!

Lilypie Expecting a baby Ticker

I am getting very antsy now! Only two more days until we find out whether we're having an Owen or an Emily! Scott, my Nana, my cousin, my sister in law (and apparently my sister as well), think we're having a boy. For some reason, over the past couple of weeks, I've been leaning more towards a girl. What the heck, in two days we'll know and all will be well. :)

I called the Dr.' s office where we'll be having the ultrasound on Wednesday because the initial paperwork we received said that if we wanted to bring a videotape, they'd put our ultrasound on video for us. When I called, my question was "Just how big of a dork will I look like if I bring in a videotape?" The lady at the doc's office laughed so hard I thought she was going to fall out of her chair. At least I was able to give someone a chuckle that day! :) She said not to worry about looking silly and bring in a tape anyhow. So Friday I went and bought a tape at Walgreen's. I'm assuming that since VHS is going the way of BETA tapes, that's the reason why I couldn't find much of a selection. I wound up buying a Sony 8 hour tape. Scott just shook his head at me after that. I'm sure he thought "EIGHT HOURS?? What are we filming here? The delivery?" However, he has become a smart daddy to be and he keeps his mouth shut. :) Oh! I bought him a book this weekend. Here it is:

How funny is that??? :)

Since the best laid plans of mice and men never seem to work out, we've also changed our baby bedding again. lol!

For Emily: A set called Felicity which I think is just adorable. Here are the patterns in the set.
For Owen: Poor thing, It's still a toss up because his pirates are gone (unless I want to shell out BIG bucks on eBay for them). But here are some contenders. (okay, so there's only one contender listed but it's cute, huh?)

This is OFFICIALLY the longest post I've had so far! Hope you enjoyed it! If not, I don't want to hear about it. :P

Maybe I'm just cheap . . .

But who has the money to do a nursery like this? Answer, celebrities and rich folk, obviously, but then my next question is, WHY? Why spend THIS MUCH money on a room they're going to want to redecorate with Spiderman, Dora, or Spongebob when they're 4? I mean it's a gorgeous room but the crib alone costs FIFTEEN thousand dollars! Unbelievable. That's a stinkin car! Now if the "Fantasy Crib Carriage" converts into a minivan and I can drive it to the store to get groceries and diapers, then yes, I think it's a better purchase. But I doubt you could even hook this sucker up to ponies in the front yard and go down the driveway!

That said, it's SUCH a cute room!
