In my defense, that post title was way funnier if you've ever heard The Rock do a WWE announcement. . .
Tonight, I finally felt like I was getting into the holiday spirit. After a long, hard week of studying and school work, I came home from some shopping, picked up Scott and then we were all three headed off to dinner and the Christmas light extravaganza in Midwest City. It was actually a blast. Emily sat on my lap and we pointed out all the amazing choreographed lights and bears playing ball and . . . Santa riding a dinosaur? hmmm. Well that bit of oddity aside, we listened to Christmas music and Scott and I even sang to Emily (and her ears did NOT bleed).
Since we were most definitely in the mood when we got home (not THAT mood, come on people, its a CHRISTmas post! Clean it up!), we put the munchkin to bed in her new Santa jams and got to work putting up the Christmas tree. I think this is the first year since we lived in Manhattan that Scott actually helped me set up the tree and was around to haul in boxes of decorations! It was AWESOME.
Once we were done, we just sat back, enjoyed the fire and played some PS3 by the light of the newly decorated Christmas tree. I took some pictures of some of my favorite parts of the tree. Enjoy!
This one is, of course, my first Christmas ornament. :) I love it. And it still hangs from one of the old wire ornament hangers. It's usually the first ornament I hang on the tree. It always makes me wish we had one of Scott's old ornaments. I'm big on sentimenality so I love heirlooms like that.
I got this ornament last year and finally got a picture in it this year. I just love the little buttons and it's even sweeter when you see Em's smiling face in the middle.
Another of my favorite elements on the tree. Scott calls it my "Janie Dyer thingies" because it does look like something my mom would have on her tree. Still, I think it jazzes things up a little.
This is one of this year's additions to the tree (obviously) and could the little girl in the picture be any cuter? We decided not to even change the photo that came with the frame because we liked her so much. (kidding!)
For about . . . forever, I have wanted my own mantle to hang stockings from (especially since we have Em's stocking to fill now!) and look how lovely it is!
I'd say at this point, my Christmas shopping is about. . . half-ish done. Granted, not all the gifts are under the tree. Some are still being delivered via Fed Ex and USPS, some have to be picked up because they were delivered to the stores for me. Others are handmade and still have to be finished! Yikes!!
And that completes our tour of the DeHart Christmas tree 'n stuff. xoxo. Y'all come back now, ya hear? But call first in case a different mood strikes.
moved.
