Okay, so last night Emily and I were playing in her room (translation, she was dragging out all of her toys and blankies and I was re-folding them and trying to keep her from tripping over things) and I found a green chenille blanket that I'd crocheted for her when I was pregnant. It was clearly not the greatest job because it had a hole in it so I thought to myself "why not take it apart and use the yarn to make her a new blanket for her birthday?" I asked Scott what he thought about my making her a blanket every year for her birthday. I thought that as she got older, it might be fun for her to pick out the yarn, etc. I know that equals a LOT of blankets but we could even turn it into something fun to add to her hope chest (does that term make me terribly old fashioned?) and some could just stay at home when she moves out when she's about 45.
Idunno. . . I know it's a lot of blankets if you think about a whole lifespan but . . . it seems like something special that I could do for her and something she could really enjoy. I'm just looking for ways to create traditions I suppose.
