I have to say that lately, my kid cracks me up like nobody else can. Here are a few of my favorite things:
1. When you put a bow in her hair or buckle her in her carseat, she claps for you and says "good job." It's just funny because she will literally drop everything in her hands and clap so you know she thinks you're doing a good job. In contrast, she will also wait for you to tell her good job at any given moment depending on what she's doing. There's really no telling when she'll look at you with those raised eyebrows that mean "okay, I'm waaaaiting." Sometimes it's when she's put her blocks in the chimney on her train (one of her favorite activities). Sometimes it's when she hands you her shoes and looks at you like "don't you love my accessory choices?"
2. She's always been good at hi-five. Today she took it to a new level. I held up my hand and asked for a hi-five and when she laid her hand on mine, I slid it out with a "pssh." This is her new game. We walked around Target for a good half hour and anytime I'd put my hands down to steer the cart, she'd grab it, turn it over and make me play hi-five again. Then, when I stopped making the "pssh" sound, she started doing it for me. She certainly picks up on things.
3. Every day since she was born (pretty much), Emily has sat in her carrier, bumbo or (now) seat on the bathroom counter and watched momma get ready. In the last couple of weeks, she has begun trying to fix her hair. It's so cute to watch. She will pick up whatever is on the counter (deodorant, toothpaste, whatever) and rub the closed bottle/tube/whatever on her hair and then scrunch. HA! She is also so totally into brushing her hair. She'll brush her hair for ten whole minutes. Mind you, the brush is usually upside down so it does no good but she loves to try.
This past weekend I had a day when I hadn't been sleeping well, Scott was sick and Emmy (who I think is cutting a molar) was just a pill. That day, it was very good for me to pull out the reminders of all the times she makes me laugh.
Here's a recent photo of the funny girl herself:
