I am so sorry for the lack of posting over the last month. Real life has a way of getting in the way of the fun stuff.
Here's a recap:
Started classes and while I'm grateful for the convenience of weekend classes, I haven't spent a Saturday with my family since Labor Day weekend and won't have another free one until 10/11. Still, I think of people like our friend Kristen who has spent more than her fair share of time with Kevin overseas and I have perspective once again. I can do this. In the meantime, I'm cuddling a lot with Emily in the evenings and ignoring my housework to do homework and work stuff. My mother would not approve but I'm sure she'll understand.
Emily has had her fair share of sickness these past few weeks. The day before my first Saturday class (in order to make my guilt complex even worse), she got Toncilitis. She spent the weekend with a fever and was just the cuddliest bug I've ever seen her be. Then this past weekend, she caught her first stomach virus and we were indoctrinated into the thrilling parenthood ritual of stripping beds and clothes in the middle of the night (more than once) and rocking a sick baby to sleep. I'm very grateful for her new daycare though because they are much more doting when she's not well. Yay for new daycares!
Scott has been working tons of overtime lately because of the slew of claims coming in after Hurricane Ike. While I love the overtime checks, I would be happy to have hubby home on the weekend. I feel like I'm imposing on my family all the time needing help to watch Emily because Mom and Dad are otherwise occupied. ((sigh)) However, when he is home in the evenings and in the middle of the night, he's such a great dad. He was the first to hop up and strip the bed, strip the baby and calm her down when she was sick a few nights ago and he's the first to hop up and get the bottle ready when she wakes up in the middle of the night. So yes, I know I'm lucky.
Last but not least, I am finally having sinus surgery! Wahoo! It sounds like a less invasive procedure than what some people I know have had and while I'm still anxious about it, I'll be happy to have it behind me.
Thought I'd end with some of the latest pictures of the bambino. She's just such a cute one! These were taken at Linden's shower last weekend. Uncle Kyle was very sweet and let her roll and slobber all over cousin Kylin's stuff. How nice. :)
