Teeth already . . .

Okay, so I know that some of you die-hard "I know everything about babyhood" readers will find reasons to disagree with me but I'm telling you. . . Emily is teething. She is three months old today and drooling like a bull mastiff. She has spent so much time in the last week chomping on her hand or gnawing on my knuckle when it's offered. This morning, her Grandma Susan and I checked out her bottom gums and sure enough, there's a bump on the bottom left. This would explain why, for the past two mornings, she's been up about 4 a.m. and has been mostly inconsolable. I told a friend here at work today that since Emily is usually not fussy and really only gets irritable when she's hungry or dirty, we have woken up wondering what in the world is possessing our kiddo! She was just pitiful this morning. It was heartbreaking because I couldn't really help her out. . . I gave her my knuckle to gnaw on and she did for a a few seconds, then she'd cry (yes, my fingers were clean, that's not why she was crying). She'd chew on her hand for a minute or so and then cry. She took a bit of her bottle and then cried some more. It was FUN! Oh, the fantastic joys of motherhood. lol. Actually, I gotta give credit where it is due. . . her daddy is totally her favorite when she's not happy (I'm her favorite when she's tired. . daddy just doesn't have the boobies for sleepy time) so she got to dance around with him this morning until she finally got so tuckered out that she went to sleep again.

I'm off to buy teething tablets and a teether tonight.

AWwww hugs to her. Nope not unusual at all. Sometimes they can teethe early even if they dont come through for a while. It might subside then start back up again too.

Hey Leslie,
I know what you mean. Kate's done that to us a few times in the past but then today, out of the blue, I found a tooth! She's been so good the last few days I had no clue it was coming. I hope Emily gets feeling better soon! Good luck!!
