Okay, so this week we had to do something we really didn't want to do. . . we had to dip into the baby fund to pay our state taxes. We owed this year and like most folks, we were just waiting for that bill to come in so we could see how bad the monthly payments would be. Well, they weren't horrible and wouldn't have been unmanageable if it weren't for the fact that we're accelerating our last two outstanding debts in order to pay them off before the baby is here. There was just no way we could pay this monthly payment, accelerate those, save for a car, continue saving for our daycare cushion AND tithe.
We've been really good about making tithing our priority. We haven't always been the best in the past but over the years we've seen just how faithful God is when you test him in regard to tithing. Not only that, but it's excellent obedience practice. We want our kids to see that priority in our lives so that it is a priority in theirs as well.
So this week, we bit the bullet, wrote a check and paid the state tax in full. That was a big step for us because I then sat and thought "there goes a chunk of daycare/maternity leave cushion." But we prayed about it and just asked for our finances to cover what was needed since we were not only being obedient in tithing but also being responsible in getting those taxes paid.
Well, kiddos, lo and behold, two days after we mailed that check, we received another check in the mail. For just about exactly what we paid in state tax PLUS TEN PERCENT! Now I am in no way saying that we pay tithes just for the blessings that come after but I will absolutely say that I am continually amazed by the faithfulness God shows. I mean, come on, we didn't have to receive anything just because we were being grown ups and paying our taxes but even then, God replaced that money in a big way.
Where's God been faithful in your life? I can't wait to hear about it.
God is good, All the time!
